New Beginnings In Christ

New Beginnings In Christ is a faith-based, inpatient men’s recovery home in Garfield, GA, housing up to 65 residents. For over 20 years the program has been free of charge, supported by faithful contributors and work based programs. Because of this unique dynamic we can reach the unreachable, from those experiencing homelessness to those who are incarcerated. Our mission is to bring hope to the hopeless, leading men out of addiction and into recovery.

New Beginnings in Christ offers reconciliation and restoration for men suffering from alcohol and drug addiction. Our focus is on transformation through faith in Jesus Christ, sober living in community, and building a strong work ethic. We are a residential treatment program lasting four months or longer. Men in residential treatment attend 17 services per week. We offer individual, group, and pastoral counseling. They have daily opportunities to hear the gospel, grow in their Christian faith, attend recovery support meetings(AA), and receive discipleship. Each man has vocational opportunities through various work therapy assignments.

Once graduated, residents can transition into our graduate program to start integrating back into society. While in the graduate program, residents can seek meaningful employment while still under the accountability of a sober living environment. The program is intentionally open-ended with no time restraints, giving the resident all the time needed before they decide to leave. We believe this increases their success rate.

Our goal has always been to show men a path to complete life transformation where the old is gone, and all things become new (2 Corinthians 5:17). The Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous tells us the hopeless alcoholic/addict must have a spiritual experience. The Bible teaches that we must be Born Again. We believe they both refer to the same thing. Our late founder, Donald Atkinson, summed up our end goal for our residents upon their departure in a few words: “Trust God and Help Others.
